  2024 Mustang Overview

The seventh generation of pony cars, the 2024 Ford Mustang, is updated, but it still bears a lot of the heritage of the previous Mustang. The new Mustang has similar handling characteristics to the outgoing model because it uses the same engines and rides on the same platform, albeit with minor changes. Except for the front pillars and top, Ford claims that the 2024 Mustang’s bodywork is all new. Despite this, the car looks to be a lot like the Mustang currently, albeit with more aggressive lines. Additionally, there’s the new, high-performance Dark Horse variant, which adds comfort and refinement to the popular GT 350 and GT 500 versions.

What’s New?

The more conventional analog dashboard arrangement is phased out and replaced with a totally digital design in the current generation of Mustangs. Although there is disagreement regarding its appearance, there is no denying the advancement in functioning and general modernity. The digital instrument panel is significantly more information-displayed than any previous version could have and comes in a variety of configurations. The new, significantly larger 13.2-inch infotainment screen is no different. It’s far more thorough than anything that has ever been supplied in a Mustang, easier to read, and responds faster.

Recaro seats without sliding back the seat might be challenging due to their hefty bolsters. The back seats are suitable for short excursions, but they are somewhat small, particularly in the headroom department. In cramped parking spaces, the Mustang’s large doors might make it challenging to get in and out. Dropping the roof does facilitate considerably simpler access to the rear seat if you choose the convertible.

Performance and Fuel Economy

The 2018 Mustang’s base engine is a 2.3-liter EcoBoost four-cylinder turbocharged engine producing 315 horsepower and 350 pound-feet of torque. Although it is 5 horsepower higher than the previous Mustang, it is still less than the 330 horsepower of the previous generation EcoBoost Performance. The EcoBoost Mustang is equipped with a 10-speed automatic transmission as standard, but the Mustang GT, which still has a 5.0-liter V-8 engine, comes with a six-speed manual transmission.

There is a noticeable improvement in the feel and input of the new Mustang’s steering. Ford claims that 486 horsepower and 481 pound-feet of torque can be obtained with an optional performance exhaust. Based on the GT, the all-new Mustang Dark Horse model is a step-up designed for the track and powered by a 500-hp 5.0-liter V-8 engine500-hp 5.0-liter V-8 engine. In essence, it’s an advancement over the gorgeous Mach 1 from the prior generation.

Throughout our 115-mile trial route, the EcoBoost and GT models the latter equipped with a six-speed manual transmission essentially met the EPA estimates. We got 26.0 mpg in the four-cylinder turbocharged EcoBoost, which has an EPA estimated combined fuel economy of 26 mpg (22 city/33 highway). We measured 18.0 mpg in the V8-powered GT compared to the EPA’s combined figure of 17 mpg (14 city/23 highway). Although the V8-powered GT trails slightly behind rivals with turbocharged engines like the Toyota GR Supra and the BMW M240i, these figures are comparable to what can be obtained with the competition.

Interior Design and Infotainment

Every element of the 2024 Mustang, including the driver’s seat, has been meticulously crafted with a design that Ford refers to as “fighter-jet inspired.” Fortunately, it’s more cozythan it seems, and the seats provided us with plenty of support. The standard 12.4-inch instrument cluster on the Mustang is a significant improvement over the one on the previous vehicle, but we will have to wait and see if its performance can shatter the sound barrier. With adjustable colors, gauges, and even a “calm” screen that shows only the most important information, the flexible display may be tailored to meet the needs of the majority of red, white, and blue patriots. The driver’s display and ambient illumination adjust to the drive style you’ve chosen.


The standard Mustang has cloth seats with the option of microsuede vinyl inserts; the Premium edition adds stitched elements to the dashboard and door trim. Leather inlays are added to the Mustang GT. Additionally, Ford has added a Remote Rev feature that lets you enjoy the sounds emanating from outside the vehicle while controlling the engine’s
RPMswith a single click on the key fob.

The interior technology of the 2017 Mustang has seen significant advancements. Behind a curved glass panel, an optional 13.2-inch infotainment screen with Ford’s Sync 4 software runs from the gauge cluster toward the center of the vehicle. This system includes common features like Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. Additionally, drivers can lessen the mess of charging connections by opting for a wireless smartphone charger. Voice commands can take the role of turning knobs or pressing buttons with Amazon Alexa and Ford Streaming. Additionally, every Mustang has Ford Power-Up software, which enables over-the-air updates for updated software and better vehicle functionality.
