Porsche uses its many years of experience producing high-performance cars to give all of its cars, even SUVs like the 2024 Cayenne, a driving experience that is difficult for competitors to match. Despite being a mid-size SUV, the Cayenne feels agile around turns because of a finely calibrated chassis. It is also quite fast, particularly when using one of its high-output powertrains, which include a twin-turbo V-8 and an optional plug-in hybrid. Porsche’s largest SUV is opulent as well, boasting a quiet cabin, a smooth ride, and a ton of convenience and technological options.

The Cayenne, like all Porsches, places a high value on performance and driver involvement, but the SUV is nonetheless incredibly luxurious, technologically advanced, and extremely configurable.

Blind-spot warning, lane-keeping assistance, keyless entry, a wireless smartphone charger, and Porsche’s matrix-design LED adaptive headlights are among the additional standard technologies that Porsche added to all versions. Engine Transmission and Performance

Porsche offers a variety of customization options for the Cayenne, the first of which is a 3.0-liter V-6 turbocharged engine producing 348 horsepower. With a turbocharged V-6 and an electric motor, the plug-in hybrid, also known as the E-Hybrid, generates 463 horsepower overall. The 468-hp twin-turbo V-8 engine of the Cayenne S produces an amazing exhaust noise and remarkable acceleration. All engines are matched with all-wheel drive and a clever eight-speed automated transmission.

We timed the standard Cayenne’s 348-horsepower turbocharged V-6 to 60 mph in a quick 4.7 seconds.

Fuel Economy, Battery, Charging Speed Range

The EPA estimates that the base Cayenne should deliver 17 mpg city and 23 mpg highway, while the S model with the V-8 engine is good for 15 mpg city and 21 mpg highway. The E-Hybrid models have not yet been rated by the EPA.

Thanks to an expanded battery pack that increases anticipated usable capacity from 14.3 kilowatt-hours to 20.6, the 2024 E-Hybrid should have a marginally longer range than previous models. We anticipate a range of about 25 miles, as the model from last year was rated for up to 15 miles of electric driving. Additionally, Porsche improved the onboard charger of the E-Hybrid to enable quicker charging periods.

Interior Comfort and Cargo Space

The 2024 Cayenne’s interior features a redesigned dashboard with more screens and a style influenced by the Taycan EV sedan. The 911 sports car’s steering wheel was swapped out for the SUV’s, and the gauge cluster is now all digital. The dashboard has a toggle shifter installed, which frees up room for a storage nook on the center console. Inside the Cayenne, Porsche essentially gives consumers a blank canvas to customize anyway they see appropriate.

You can choose exactly what you want—from the surface materials to the interior trim to the
colors of the seatbelts—but nearly always at a steep extra cost. Along with standard features like heated and ventilated front and rear seats, the Cayenne also comes with upscale features like massaging front seats, more supportive seats, and four-zone temperature control. The Porsche has two rows compared to three for competitors like the Audi Q7 and Volvo XC90, but at least the back seat of the Cayenne is flexible and offers lots of room for stretching out. Porsche fans are drawn to the Cayenne because it has far more passenger and freight space than any 911.

Infotainment and Connectivity

The entire length of the dashboard in the Cayenne is lined with digital displays, which are viewed by the driver and front passenger. A 12.3-inch touchscreen featuring wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto functionality is located in the center. A secondary, optional 10.9-inch display for the front passenger sits to the right of that. According to Porsche, this display can stream video content because it has a safety feature that hides it from view from the driver’s seat. Nestled behind the steering wheel, a dedicated 12.6-inch screen for the driver displays several features such as trip computer, tachometer, and vehicle speed.
