From sublime masterpiece to clay model, Coachbuild’s manual procedures open up new design possibilities. A full-sized clay sculpture was hand-crafted until a pure form was found after the initial idea was written. Buks was made from a digital remastering. After that, aluminum sheets were pounded into a canvas and refined until the surface and lines were as clear as possible.

According to reports as of 2023, the “Rolls-Royce Boat Tail,” which supposedly cost about $28 million, was the most expensive car in the world. The Bugatti La Voiture Noire, which sold for around $18.7 million after taxes, wasn’t far behind. These cars are more than just means of mobility; they are a union of exclusivity, engineering prowess, and artistry.

The Exotic Vehicle Has a Beautifully Detailed and Tailored Exterior

Caleidolegno Veneer, a gray and black material, is typically found inside Rolls Royce vehicles. The outside of the Rolls-Royce Boat Tail is made of the same material. The veneer’s brushed stainless steel pinstripe trimmings and linear wood grain are adorned with open pores. Its 5.8-meter length highlights its distinctive nautical style. The Rolls-Royce Boat Tail design also has a continuous negative sculpture, an aligned A-pillar, and a wraparound windshield. The 1,813 new handmade parts of the Rolls-Royce Boat Tail Car, which total a staggering 20 years’ worth of labor hours, are made possible by all of these unique elements.

In a lineup of automobiles, Rolls-Royce vehicles would inevitably stand out from the competition. The traditional pantheon grille serves as the model for their unmistakable appearance. Nonetheless, the Boat Tail’s disassembled pantheon grille softens the car’s overall appearance compared to the traditional formal style.

The Rolls-Royce Boat Tail, which was designed by none other than Santiago Calatrava, features a deck that dramatically rises into the air, giving the impression of a sweeping butterfly. The custom deck has enough for additional opulent stuff like caviar and an envied champagne chest. Additionally, the deck adds some picnic seats and cocktail tables on both sides. The architect’s design for the back picnic area served as inspiration, and it was intended to serve as the owner’s gathering place. Rolls-Royce has incorporated an umbrella to defend against inclement weather, carrying on the tradition of adding parasols to its Ghost and Wraith vehicles.

The Boat Tail Has Luxurious Interiors

Pitch perfect notes are contained within. Every detail in the luxuriously appointed cabin has been carefully considered without becoming overbearing. The doors and seats are covered in plush leather, and the polished metal and wood accents provide a sensual experience. Here, the elements of light, proportion, and materials are clearly appreciated, and there are subtly nautical allusions throughout. For example, blue is oriented to mimic the spill of a water’s wake and braided at a 55-degree angle into the technical fiber pieces visible on the lower bodywork.

The form of Boat Tail is made up of one seemingly infinite surface, has a dramatic curvature,
and is monolithic in scale. An accomplishment that no machine could match. Two-sided
watches, one for the woman and one for the man, can be worn on the outside of the body or
installed as dashboard clocks. Rolls-Royce and BOVET 1822 had to collaborate on the clocks
for more than three years.
