BYD BAO 5 OVERVIEW

Under the Fangchengbao brand, BYD Auto produces the plug-in hybrid (PHEV) mid-size SUV known as the Fangchengbao Bao 5, or Fang Cheng Bao Leopard 5 in English. The Fangchengbao brand’s debut car is the Bao 5, and it will be followed by the Bao 3 and Bao 8.

In China, the Bao 5 made its debut in August 2023 and went on sale in November of the same year. Rather than going through BYD dealerships, it is supplied through
Fangchengbao direct sales stores. This momentous event comes after the brand’s pre-sale launch on August 25th, when prices varied from RMB 300,000 to RMB 400,000 (about €39,100 to €52,200).

Built on a BYD Auto DMO (Dual Mode Off-Road) Super Hybrid powertrain, the Bao 5 is an off-road focused SUV with body-on-frame construction. The angles of approach and departure are 35 and 32 degrees, correspondingly. A high-spec Bao 5 model with the Cloud-P chassis technology is also available from BYD; it comes with a hydraulic active suspension system from the Yangwang U8 that can be adjusted in height. This sets the Bao 5 apart in a special way from other BYD platforms like DM-p, which is more performance-oriented, and DM-i, which concentrates on fuel economy.

And interestingly, at the same August 16 event, Fang Cheng BaoFang Cheng Bao unveiled not just the Bao 5, but also the concept of the Bao 8, called the Super 8, and another model, the Bao 3. This variety of models demonstrates the brand’s dedication to providing customers with a wide range of choices.

The BAO 8 concept car, also known as SUPER 8, presents the brand’s cutting-edge off-road SUV vision. This design, which was influenced by futuristic battlegrounds, guarantees strong integration and improved protection, boosting driver confidence.

In addition, early information regarding the BAO 3 surfaced, suggesting a stylish model with a humorous vibe that is aimed towards a variety of audiences.

Boa 5 Configuration

A 4WD vehicle with two electric motors is the Bao 5. There is an extra 285 kW of power in the back in addition to the 200 kW in the front. They are coupled to a 135 kW 1.5L turbocharged engine. With a maximum power of 505 kW and a peak torque of 760 Nm, the entire system can accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in 4.8 seconds.

The 31.8 kWh LFP Blade battery of the PHEV can be fast-charged at 100 kW DC for 16 minutes, from 30% to 80%. In addition, it has V2V (vehicle-to-vehicle) charging and 6 kW external discharge. The maximum power of the vehicle discharge rescue fiction is 20 kW. Under CLTC standards, the combined range is 1,200 km with an 85-liter tank full.

BAO 5 INTERIOR

The multi-screen dashboard of the Bao 5 has a freshly developed user interface called FiLink. Additionally, there are Nappa leather seats and an 18-speaker Devialet audio system. You have the opportunity to customize the vehicle with up to seven exterior colors, three inside colors, and a variety of wheel and pedal configurations.

The car includes three enormous screens: a massive 15.6-inch central control screen in the middle, and two 12.3-inch instrument displays for the driver and co-pilot. When you look at the center console, you see more physical buttons and two cup holders in the BYD design.

In China, prices vary from RMB 289,800 to RMB 352,800, or RM187K to RM228K.
